Data you can hear, taste and feel. We work with creatives to design experiences that raise awareness, deepen conversations, and move people to act on pressing issues.
Jump to interest formWe consider creatives to be anyone who uses their artistic abilities to excite people, tell stories, challenge norms, or promote justice — whether you're a DJ, photographer, muralist, poet, UX or experience designer, chef, or mixologist.
It depends on your skills and interests! Sometimes we collaborate with creatives to communicate data using sight, sound, or taste. Other times we collaborate on pop-ups or social gatherings as part of our community engagement work. If you have an idea for a collaboration, let's talk about it.
Financial compensation is based on the rate you establish. The Studio offers sliding scale support to community-based organizations and artists; for those projects, we may ask for small discounts or payment arrangements.
We will always be transparent about what funding is available before any work begins, and there is no expectation for creatives to work for free or accept less than what they are worth.
After a community-owned evaluation, we communicate findings to the public. Eval Design Studio and the organization that commissioned the evaluation plan to co-host an event at a local community center. We collaborate with poets who will — alongside community members who took part in the evaluation — recite original poems about the evaluation topic (e.g., youth mental health) and the evaluation findings.
Eval Design Studio partners with a movement to raise awareness about a social issue. We collaborate with visual artists to make merch, a DJ to provide live music, a mixologist to create cocktails inspired by data related to the social issue, and community-based photographers of various skill levels to create a photovoice series.
